well, actually you have two problems: not only do you have to find a good
teacher, but also you have to get this person _wanting_ to teach you (which
is usually the larger problem).
one way to achieve this, is to start educating yourself with the material
already available (various reviews, lecture notes, papers, text books,
tutorials) up to the point that you can demonstrate some basic knowledge,
_and_ the ability to educate yourself once you are given some pointers.
once you reach that level, you'll automatically be able to recognize groups
that are productive in the fields that interest you and thus be able to apply
for positions, funds and so on.

there are diffent ways of doing that. which method would suit you best, depends
on what properties precisely you are interested in and what kind of calculation
is feasable with the systems at hand. without any detailed information, there
is not other recommendation than to check out the material available in the
literature and on the web and identify studies that are similar to
what you'd like
to do and follow their lead.
