Lectureship in Molecular and Materials Modelling
Department of Physics, King's College London
Applications are invited for a Lectureship in Molecular and Materials
Modelling at King's College London, to be taken up with effect from
April 2007 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The candidate will work in the nano-scale modelling of materials. The
areas of interest may include, for example, nano-materials,
self-organising molecular or biologically significant systems. The
successful candidate will join the four current academic staff working
in this area in the Physics Department, and will be expected to
interact with the theorists and experimentalists in the international
community, especially contributing to the considerable expertise in
modelling in this part of the UK and to the new Thomas Young Centre for
Theory and Simulations of Materials. Within King's College there is
increasing activity in relevant fields such as Bioinformatics.
The successful candidate for the Lectureship in Molecular and Materials
Modelling will be expected to: (a) engage in internationally-leading
research and maintain an outstanding track record of research in this
area; (b) supervise postgraduate research students; (c) help in
promoting the image and profile of King?s in Molecular and Materials
Modelling; (d) play an active role in the pursuit of research grants,
travel funds, consultancy arrangements; (e) contribute to undergraduate
and postgraduate programmes by taking part in teaching, examining and
project supervision within the Department of Physics; and (f)
contribute to the administrative work.
The salary is offered on the Lecturer A scale (£25,083 to £28,767), or
Lecturer B scale (£26,694 to £38,068), plus £2,323 pa London Allowance.
