please note: for this to work you have to install the intel
compiler runtime and the scripts on _every_ machine you want
to use the executable. this can be extremely inconvenient, 
e.g. on a large cluster. 
much easier to just link it statically.

this will also keep your executable working, in case you upgrade
to a new major revision of the intel compiler (which will need
a different, probably incompatible runtime).

on top of that you have the possible performance penalty from
using position independent code on x86 platforms (you lose one
of the very few registers).
