Hydrogen Capping vs. Link Atoms
Whenever the QM/MM-boundary cuts through an
existing bond, special care has to be taken to make sure that the
electronic structure of the QM-subsystem is a good representation of an
all-QM calculation and also the structure in the boundary region is
preserved. So far, two methods are available to do this: using special
link-atom pseudopotentials and hydrogen capping.
